Manufacturing Engineer
Description:
The responsibilities are ensuring that assigned manufacturing processes or products meet quality, performance, functional, and costs requirements in a timely and effective manner. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with developing manufacturing processes and procedures and maintaining quality standards. Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes, develops and initiates methods for inspection and ensure test requirements are met on new and existing products, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Provide engineering support to maintain continuity of production flow by trouble shooting and timely problem solving. May design or redesign manufacturing processes and monitor and debug new methods. Apply statistical methods to establish controlled processes and estimate future manufacturing requirements. Monitor special processes performed or implement special customer requests for data or analysis. Provide leadership of assigned products for quality and process improvement teams or problem-solving meetings. Develops process control and quality plans and ensure proper documentation is written, approved and understood for assigned products, processes, equipment and quality system requirements. Confer with Production and customer concerning product design, quality and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. Respond to Production and others for issues needing clarification. Establish specification of preventive maintenance and calibration for assigned equipment. Coordinate maintenance, calibration and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment. Provide support and coordinate engineering changes notices (ECN) activities with other departments. Establish and monitor quality objectives for assigned products. Document and report on quality performance to management and/or customers. Analyzes customer returns to determine cause of defects and reports to customers detailing defects and corrective actions taken. Confers with vendors to determine product specifications, material conformance, and arrange for purchase of equipment or parts. May compile and write training materials or conduct training sessions on quality or process control activities. Develop and support training activities for machine operators. Lead or conduct internal and ESD audit. Devise sampling procedures and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data. Analyze samples of modules or components to ensure quality conformance. Perform process and capability studies for estimating production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Monitor processes to optimize tools, techniques, and materials on products. Identify and establish programs to resolve quality or process problems Lead proto-type builds of new product to verify processes and procedures. Provide technical guidance and supervision to technicians
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years electronics manufacturing related experience (SMT, TH, & cable harness assembly).
