Materials Manager

Description:
This position is responsible for the materials management function relating to the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products to meet company objectives and customer requirements. This involves the responsibility of directing, supervising and administering Purchasing, Inventory Control, Warehousing including shipping, receiving and warehousing), Customer Service and Planning/Scheduling. Reviews and approves adequate plans for the control of planned outputs, budget spending, labor efficiency, material efficiency, customer service, and order entry efficiency along with human utilization. Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges. Responsible for the proper annual phase out programs and initiating and processing the resulting obsolescence and termination claims. Coordinates and collaborates with other departments (Production, Engineering, Quality and Accounting) in establishing and carrying out responsibilities to ensure on-time delivery of quality product. Lead the generation of the monthly production build plan. Investigates and follows up deviations to the production schedule. Ensures proper contact with customers and suppliers relating to releases and deliveries and resolve any issues that arise. Oversee the purchasing and/or contracting for materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the operation of the Company, in addition to all inventory items. Confer with requesting parties when specific sources are requested. Investigates and solves problems resulting from material shortages, however caused. Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of inventory within the stockroom, physical inventory and maintain an effective cycle count program.

Education:
College degree in Business or a management related field.

Experience:
Eight (8) to ten (10) years' experience, including three (3) years in Purchasing, three (3) years in Production and/or Inventory Control, two (2) years in Warehousing and two (2) years in Customer Service. Direct experience in supervising both management and clerical employees is necessary. A full knowledge of ERP/MRP is required. Strong organizational and planning skills. Prefer certification in APICS and/or NAPM.
